“Building Bridges of Hope” A Delegation and Conference commemorating 25 years of Witness for Peace

25 years ago, Witness for Peace was born on a historic delegation to the war zone in Nicaragua. Relive that history and learn from Nicaraguans whose struggle for economic justice continues today.

Join us on our 25th Anniversary Delegation! June 12-23, 2008

Travel with WfP founders back to the site of its founding to learn about:

  • How US policy impacts Nicaragua
  • Peace and justice movements in Nicaragua
  • Debt’s impact on social services
  • Free trade’s effect on migration
  • The role of fair trade in Nicaragua
  • The history, economy, and culture of Nicaragua

On the delegation you will:

  • Speak with Nicaraguans that are fighting for change
  • Meet maquila workers and union organizers
  • Explore alternative development and fair trade
  • Experience a Nicaraguan homestay
  • Attend a socio-economic tour of Managua
  • Relax at a volcanic crater lake
  • Discuss policy with U.S. embassy officials

Your trip will end in Washington DC where you will join hundreds of activists in the peace and justice community for the WFP National Grassroots Conference from June 21st to 23rd. You will have the opportunity to examine the most critical issues facing Latin America today and to pressure Congress to act!

Cost: $1000 plus international transportation. The fee includes set-up, translation, transportation in country, preparation, meals, lodging and extensive readings and activist tools both before and after the delegation. The fee also includes registration for the conference, Saturday night celebration, and training and action in DC, June 21-23rd
