NicaPlaza Product Finder

A new feature has just been added to the NicaPlaza.com web site called a Product Finder. It is essentially a bulletin board where you can add requests about products and services and await responses. You only need to go to Product Finder to check it out. The other NicaPlaza services (classified ads and real estate listings) remain unchanged and available from the NicaPlaza front page.

Anyone can search the current listings. To add a listing or respond you need to create a login (which is free).

In a somewhat convoluted way, the site was inspired by the NicaPlaza Business Directory. The business directory has been a lot less popular than expected. In retrospect, an on-line vendor-driven directory doesn't fit well with the standard Nicaraguan marketing practices (or lack of marketing practices). It is my hope that a shopper-driven site will do two things:

1. Actually prove useful to the shoppers
2. Get vendors inspired to actually talk about themselves

While there are quite a few posts on NicaLiving in the "looking for" category, the focus of NicaLiving makes it relatively hard to "look up" answers to such questions. The more focused feature of the NicaPlaza Product Finder should help.

Note that while the only posts there today are mine, they are all real requests—not just test posts.
