Pueblo Nuevo cathedral

Pueblo Nuevo (it was the new town 350 years ago, its a little old now) has a different sytle than many others. Adobe blocks are common in this area. Cute town, a glimpse of Nicaragua before traffic jams and a ciber and pulperia on every corner. Did I mention bring lunch? Not much tourist infrastrucure.

Great picture

Pueblo Nuevo must be one of Esteli's gems from what I've read. It could be like the Neustadt of Nicaragua. In the last few years, the coffee from that municipality has been among the best in Nicaragua according to the Cup of Excellence. It also boasted Nicaragua's best math student for 5 years in a row a while back.

Pueblo Nuevo also has some significant potential tourist attractions, most notable is one of the most valuable and best-known paleontological sites in the country, El Bosque, which contains fossils from the Pleistocene age (dating back 20 to 30 thousand years) of now extinct mammals such as mastodons that can be found in abundance. The mountains in the north and west reach heights above 1700 meters (5577 feet). Unfortunately, there isn't much tourist infrastructure or services and who knows in what shape the archeological & paleontological sites are in. However, it appears the town itself has been getting some needed repairs, such as pavement of streets.

we stopped by the Alcadia

to get info on el bosque, but they were real busy registering cattle or something. Next time i´ll bring lunch and be prepared for a day of it, and I can have a native speaker call the alcadia for info.

¨pata de perro¨

Something that I forgot to

Something that I forgot to mention (important) is that the archeological & paleontological site of El Bosque is considered to be the oldest evidence of human existence in Central America.
