Internet and VOIP

Regarding Internet and VOIP we're now getting 650 down/480 up with Cablenet in Granada and our Vonage VOIP box givs us a Canadian exchange for ree calling to all of the US and Canada for 19.99 per mo. Not too shabby. Cablenet has been 100% reliable (knock on wood) since October.

Working from Managua

I am getting 712 down /489 up with very reliable service from Cablenet. I use Skype and it works well about 85% of the time. I only had one major power outage in the last couple weeks, and that was because they cut the power for 6 hours to trim trees. My Xantrex power hub kept me up and running that day.

DSL

Just another data point. I have Enitel DSL here. Very reliable. It is 1024 down/128 up (yeah, I don't like that either). Been using VoIP for ages. Primarily VoiceEclipse --two "lines" for $20/mo. Why two lines? One is configured to auto-recognize a FAX.

I also have a SIP phone which is great for "geek-to-geek" calls.
