Adventures of the Esteli Public RegistrySubmitted by fyl on 18 January, 2008 - 08:07.
This story would probably be more amusing if we weren't waiting for some paperwork. The story is that apparently the Public Registry budget in Estelí was all used up for 2007 such that there was no money for December salaries. (I could comment on some "anomalies" I know of that would have contributed but I won't.) In any case, the staff response was to report to work but refuse to do anything. Now, amazing as it may seem, this is still going on. That is, the public registry has been open all of January but has done no work. Rumors are that this may be "solved" soon. ( categories: )

the ¨huelga¨¨ I keep hearing about. But it seems to never end. Makes for a hostile business and investment climate.
I also ¨hear¨that the Supreme Court is in Huelga.
