World's Healthiest Foods

I tripped on this web site when I was looking for useful information on Quinoa. Since them I have read a lot of info from the site and ordered the book on the World's Healthiest Foods.

The "honcho" of the idea is George Matelja who happens to be the person who created Health Valley Foods and Next on the list is Joseph E. Pizzorno, Jr., N.D. who co-founded and was founding president of Bastyr University in Seattle. Thus, this is not a fly-by-night adventure.

If you just want some "why should I eat X" information, check out 130 Healthy Foods. I am not new to understanding what is good and what is bad for us but this page does a great job of offering useful information on all these foods. And, for those carnivores out there, no, this is not just a vegetarian site.

My first goal with this book plus Joseph Pizorno's Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine is to try to get my wife to understand what what you eat makes a difference. If that works, I will start on the rest of the population of Nicaragua. :-)

Book in Spanish, maybe

I wrote them suggesting that they should do a Spanish version of their book pointing out that besides Latin America, a lot of people in the US speak Spanish.

They said they are considering it. I would love to have the book in Spanish just so I could have some credibility to back up what I keep telling people about eating pigs, white rice and grease all the time.

Good site, Phil. I was

Good site, Phil. I was surprised that Wheatgrass Juice did not make the top 130 list. It is one of the most nutrient dense, healthy foods. Cheap and easy to make also.

good site...

I've used it for some time now, for recipee ideas that are basic, healthy, and not destroyed by overly fancy methods or ingredients. But it doesn't list "Holiday Nicaraguan Rum Cake" ....
