People that have never traveled to Nicaragua because of hearing negative things about this great country should come and visit Nicaragua. ______________________________________________________________

Travel
There are many many places in the world where you can learn about life, and yourself. Most people would rather learn about where to get a cool bikinni or the best Mai Tai.
This is so true
I know a lot about Nicaragua. I put thousands of hours into "Nicaragua stuff" in the 1980s. That covered history, economy, technical aid projects, ... But, I had never visited and certainly would have never considered moving to Nicaragua.
My first visit was to SJdS. No biggie--call it vacation. But, once I actually came up to where real Nicaraguans dominate the landscape it became so clear there was something here that didn't exist in the U.S. and didn't exist in Costa Rica. Now, I only regret not looking at Nicaragua as a place to live 20 or more years ago.
There are a lot of cultural things I love here but such simple things as I don't have heaters or air conditioners--the temperature in my house is regulated by opening windows or the door and sometimes running a fan.
Let's call it marketing. Nicaragua is like eastern religions--they have something and they welcome you if you are interested. Western religions tend to "market their product". Nicaragua is here if you want to put forth the effort. For those with no interest in doing their homework, go to Costa Rica. :-)
