McDonald's Knockoff in Esteli

I had to laugh when I saw this food trailer next to the park in Esteli. It is there every day. I did not try the McPapitas, as they looked like frozen fries, hey just like their American counterpart! I don't eat those either. If they were made with fresh potatoes, I would have tried them. How 'bout those enterprising Nicaraguans???

McDonald's has been in Nicaragua since at least the 70's in Managua.

During the Sandinista / Comunista / Socialista early 80's, it was actually a privileged job to have, since at least employees weren't really rationed when it came to left over food.

McEmpresarios, do your thing. Everything the US outsources gets knocked the faq off anyways. McNacatamales or McChicha would be a nice chain though. Easy to remember. I'd buy.

Apparently Pizza Hot is a Nicaragua chain. You can also find them in Rivas and Estelí. Probably others.
