Ooops I missed that
You're right fyl, I missed the part about just driving it from the US. Oh well I'll keep on looking, Mike
obligitory comment
I was ignoring this (that is, an inappropriate post) but I now find it necessary to say "that's nice but it isn't good for anything other than parts in Nicaragua because you can't register it".
"Farm Truck": Not possible?
I realize the vehicle is too old for proper (road-use?) registration, but ... isn´t it possible this truck could be used as a "farm truck" or "business truck", legally, if it was used only on the owner´s property? The only reason I ask is that I know other people in Honduras (somewhat similar laws there) and one in Nicaragua who have picked up older vehicles, and never registered them since they do not use them on the roads, and they have not had a problem, not even when they have police officers as neighbors. Would the truck really only have value as a parts vehicle?
I had the thought too!
Adrian--When I read the original post I realized that the truck could not be registered; but, I had the same thought as you about using for a "farm truck" or a "woods truck" on private property.
I think that this truck has two problems with registration. The age of the truck and I believe that this truck has to leave Nicaragua with the owner and the owner's passport according to the law as I understand it. If the truck is no longer operable,I don't know what happens.
I'm interested
I'll email you later on today when I get home. Can you tell me what kind of problems it has? I'm a mechanic but I need to know what parts to send down to fix it so I can do it when I get there. I just need transportation and 4x4 to work. Little stuff doesn't bother me. Mike. mikeferyok@yahoo.com
