NASA's World WindSubmitted by evets on 26 September, 2007 - 10:03.
![]() Certainly beats Google Earth at the moment. You need to download the software from NASA plus some NET microsoft stuff (which happens automatically). This low def picture doesn't do the software justice. The land I've got to the south of Ostional is marked with an X There's a x1.5 on the vertical axis on this shot which is why Conception is more phallic than mammary. ( categories: )

Google Maps
On a semi-related note, Google Maps has recently added department borders, a fairly decent collection of towns, some major roads, and singlehandedly the best street map of Managua I've ever seen. Admittedly the map seems to be shifted about half a block west as compared to the satellite view, but it's still WAY above and beyond anything else I've seen: Managua
Very impressive
and useful. Google is slowly updating its data to high def and did so for some of Nica last year. Unfortunately the part that interests me (CR border to SJDS)is still football field sized pixels so any useful topographical data I can get is valuable. I think this package is more interesting than Google, as is the Microsoft version for some locales but not Nica.
