tell you that you committed an infraction and ask for money. bc if they didn't, then i don't think that's harrassment.
that did happen to me outside of masaya. other than waiting 30 minutes, nothing happened. and i didn't give them any money bc they had stopped a gringo. btw, they wanted 40$. and they looked 18.
Technically, may not be harasment, but having to stop four times at these checkpoints on a single Mga-Leon trip, is very irritating. No $$ was taken from me.

in an offensive way. was stopped at another checkpoint were they didn't try to hassle me for money. that one was ok. sure, i don't like being stopped. but i figure it is their country...
These checkpoints are not only an incovenniance and an aggravation to tourists an visitors, but more importantly, they are also a real hindrance to the traffic flow of interdepartamental commerce.
And I dont like being stopped either, neither 99 % of the Nicaraguan drivers, this is just an old intimidating system that have been dragged since Somoza's time, I just called them plain thugs dress up in blue uniforms,I just wonder when this people will do the job they are being paid for such as stopping buses going a hundred miles an hour on a school zone,or taxis stopping in the middle of the road for no reason. Is frustating for a Nicaraguan as it is for a North American.
did they...
