I have been debating wether or not to buy a propane refridgerator or buy another panel and more batteries to run an electric fridge. I have zero knowledge on solar power or what it would take to run a house and a fridge or just fans-lights-computer.

Are any users on NL currently using a propane fridge? My house will be running off only one solar panel and a few marine batteries for awhile so I am set on getting a propane fridge. I have been to a few Gallo mas Gallo and Curacaos none of them carry them.

I have been told I can get one in Managua but haven't had the heart to head out there without some specific info first. Are they efficient at cooling and freezing? Are they cost efficient here in Nicaragua? What is the cost of one down here? Thanks in advance for any info.

I have no information on previous eruptions or activity. I heard from a friend in Rivas the biggest eruption yet occured this evening.

What veggies are available at certain times of year in the Tola area? Is corn available year round and is it any good?

Just bought my tickets to move down on April 7th. I am bringing my dog as cargo and I need to get in touch with the customs agent at MGA I thought this might be a good place to find info for the office there. Our flight doesnt land until 8pm so I am hoping we can arrange for he or she to stay late to import our dogs. Thanks for any info in advance.

As the finishing date for my house moves further back and my desire to leave the states moves closer and closer I have come to the realization that I will need to rent for a couple months. I am looking for a studio or a one bedroom for myself my girlfriend and our two dogs. I am on the fence as to if I want to be in Gigante to be close to the work or if I want to ease into life in Nicaragua in SJDS. If anyone has info on rentals I would greatly appreciate it.

I have read this site for over a year now. I have bought property and am moving from here in Hawaii to the Tola region next month. I have barely contributed to the site as most of the topics I am curious about were covered here years ago Though I almost never respond I do enjoy reading the daily blogs. They have slowly prepared me for transition into Nicaragua.
